Rose Petals 2018

Image
Photo by  Jovana Nesic  from  Pexels The garden sleeps and the roses have died The last rose remains, petals dropping, crushed by your hands    The last rose is strong and resilient      The last rose shall make you bleed from its thorns      The last rose clings to beauty until the frost       The last rose symbolizes new love and life      The last rose shall not give up

Rising Star

Image
Photo by Greg Rakozy on Unsplash You came into my life As the tide washes over the shore Incrementally, yet unstoppable It's natural that the tide must leave I wait each day for its return I rush to try to hold the water But it trickles through my hands I will not grieve because I can not hold you The vessel of my soul is already filled By your beautiful existence And I must walk away

Road to Nowhere

Image
Photo by  Gabriel Hohol  from  Pexels They look at us and ask "Hey, where are you planning to go?" We look at each other, grinning, "Nowhere in particular." "Are you seriously ok with that?" "Yep" I give your hand a squeeze and we peel out of the driveway, kicking up dust We laugh because we both know that the destination doesn't matter  In the car with you, the scenery changes Green rolling hills turn to mountains colored in the magenta light of sunset All obscured by the light of your soul Wind from the windows rushes past us  We sing at the top of our lungs speeding down the open highway  Maybe we slow down to enjoy the roadside attractions Maybe all that matters is that for today's journey, we have each other If we look at the map, we are lost The only way to reach the end of the trip is to take the ride

Dance of Life

Image
Photo by Todd Trapani on Unsplash The dance begins again I have danced before Oh, so many times I danced for others Fool that I was Now, I dance for me My songs play within I don't care who likes my dance My playlist on repeat I will not be a wallflower I will dance with joy until my music is silenced And another bonus poem from Rumi Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free. Rumi

Destination

Image
My face brushes against yours, whiskers tickling my cheeks Your eyes beckon me, inviting me into your heart Our eyes close as we breathe in each other’s scents Our lips touch and the feel of your kiss melts my inhibitions Will you take me to the depths of my desire? Can you handle all that I can give? I will only want more I taste your mouth and bite your lips Our hearts beat together, a symphony just for us My hands explore your magnificence I smile, then lose my breath as you taste and touch me like no other can We float in a state of bliss, every bit of our skin tingling You take me to destinations never known before Destinations I never want to leave

Three Little Words that Mean so Much

Image
Three words Do you? My greatest hope But...I do not hear the words To make my soul dance with fire I try to mask my pain, but all can see my heart as it bleeds inconsiderately all over my face I hear the OTHER three words "Are you okay?" And I realize... those words are a form of the ones I wanted to hear I send gratitude to those who knew to ask

Rainfall

Image
Photo by Hilary Halliwell from Pexels Your energy washes over me Rain refreshing my leaves I am alive and dewy with pleasure But the water will fall from my leaves Drying all evidence of you Lessons learned Your water only existed to make my roots strong And I grow Until the rain arrives again

Happiness is a Butterfly

Image
The lifespan of a butterfly varies, some live for days and some live for months, but never quite a year. Male butterflies will die 6-8 weeks after using up all their sperm mating with a succession of females. Similarly, the female will die after she has laid all her eggs. All that remains is...what they left behind. You are the butterfly That flutters at my cheek I should fly away Before your gaze pins me as a sample on your tray The nectar flows through us Until there is no more Happiness so delicious, And so temporary

Garden for Lovers

Image
Spring arrives with verdant buds Our garden will still bloom Be patient, my lover I will know the taste of you again Sweet as summer fruit Shine your light through me As fireflies dance in the evening sky and we become one under the summer moon

Burn

Image
Unexpected one, placing your hands over my eyes Guess who? Of course, it's you Complicated Provocative Worthy Gracefully dancing through my mind Nights are restless As you set a fire within me That I should extinguish but I don't Because I like how it feels When I burn for you
