Road to Nowhere

They look at us and ask "Hey, where are you planning to go?"
We look at each other, grinning, "Nowhere in particular."
"Are you seriously ok with that?"
"Yep"
I give your hand a squeeze and we peel out of the driveway, kicking up dust
We laugh because we both know that the destination doesn't matter
In the car with you, the scenery changes
Green rolling hills turn to mountains colored in the magenta light of sunset
All obscured by the light of your soul
Wind from the windows rushes past us
We sing at the top of our lungs speeding down the open highway
Maybe we slow down to enjoy the roadside attractions
Maybe all that matters is that for today's journey, we have each other
If we look at the map, we are lost
The only way to reach the end of the trip is to take the ride
